Susan Clynes is a singer/pianist from Belgium which has studied Drama, Jazz Piano, Jazz Composition and Composition. In 2012 she got a Master’s Degree in Composition with the well-known Frank Nuyts. She has also composed music for shortfilms, theater & advertisements. Now, it felt right to release her debut album.
As you might have guessed till now, “Life Is...” is based on piano. Along come Susan’s vocals and cello by Simon Lenski, bass by Pierre Mottet & drums by Nico Chkifi. Blending piano, jazz-fusion, jazz-pop, art-pop, progressive, ethic, avant-garde & neo-classical elements, Susan presents something that’s rather artistically stimulating. Having been recorded live at two different places (Archiduc, Brussels & Bib, Bree, Belgium) and compiled from three live concerts with a unique band configuration each time, it’s amazing how well-produced & full it sounds. Susan has done the production as well. Undoubtedly, Susan Clynes is a talented & creative musician.
“Life Is...” has nothing to do with popy happy-silly little tracks you’ll hear on the TV or on the (web) radio. It’s also not meant for everyone. It has a deep musical background which will appeal to the listeners who know/study music or are into piano, jazz, fusion, (neo) classical & prog, art-pop music at large. Overall, “Life Is...” can be defined as an emotional, smooth & imaginative music work…
