Vasil Hadzimanov is back with his sophomore release around three years after his debut. This time the virtuoso Serbian keyboardist, composer and arranger is expanding his musical horizons by embellishing his ethnic, Balkan folk, prog rock and jazz/fusion music with atmospheric, R&B, funk, avant garde, psychedelia, trance and electronica elements here and there. Still, the musical experimentations along with the passionate and creative improvisations are here, cuz they are the very essence of this “kind of music”, in a way.

Apart from Branko Trijic on guitar, Miroslav Tovirac on bass, Predrag Milutinovic on drums, and Bojan Ivkovic on percussion and vocals, the new album features Rastko Obradovic on sax (“Mr. MoonJune”, “For Clara”), Marta Hadzimanov on vocals (“Lost”) and Dean Bowman on vocals (“For Clara”). The production is clear and full in general.

Surely, “Lines in Sand” is a step forward for the virtuoso keyboardist Vasil Hadzimanov. This album mostly addresses the bold listeners who are not stuck with a specific music kind and like variable experimental music with lots of virtuosic improvisations.
