I’m quite sure that not many people/fans would have dealt with the band… if it wasn’t for Dave Lombardo (Slayer). Certainly, when a member of a well-known band and especially a great drummer like Dave is participating in a music project then it’s inevitable not to listen to it. Parts in crime along with Dave are singer/guitarist Gerry Nestler (Civil Defiance) & the bassist Pancho Tomaselli (War).
I don’t expect anything near Slayer… after all, what’s the point playing the same music you play with your band? I wasn’t also expecting something so unmusical, non-melodic, insipid, messy, boring & unpleasant such as this. So, what kind of music do they play? That’s quite hard to tell as the music here is all over the place. There’s a “weird” mix of post-hardcore, atmospheric metal, hard rock, jazz-prog-rock, psychedelic rock, jazzcore, post-metal, punk with hollow/garage-like production… that the more you listen to it the more dizzy it will make you. For example, the song “Way Down” has a Zeps riff without distortion… a slow atmospheric tempo & a truly incoherent guitar solo that could have been a Jimmy Page one in another dimension!
There’s nothing musical here at all… this is terrible… unlistenable, bland & unmelodic music. The title “Harmonic” is probably the most unsuitable title for this album… it should have been something like inharmonious & chaotic.
