The New Black
A Monster’s Life

The New Black is a quintet of Germans all of whom, more or less, have been in rather decently established bands in the past and a couple still are. Their style is a massively compressed, heavy and melodic modern (hard) rock with decent melodies but limited vocals.
Sounding more American that European, but probably with more melodic sensibilities than the usually too groove but whiny American counterparts, when it comes to the choruses, these guys are not without merit, but their songs are not “blockbusters”, just plainly decent… hence the whole, edgy production sort of goes wasted over, songs with modest to decent appeal, but probably no real “chart appeal”.
Plus after two or three songs, the riffs and melodies start to recycle quite evidently with the album going through the motions. I dunno, on the other hand, drunk people seem to enjoy massively bands like Volbeat so… wtf!
