Kaledon is a recognized Italian power metal band and I think it needs no special reference. “Altor: The King’s Blacksmith” is the band’s 7th release which tells the story the man who forged the sword that killed Mozul, the evil creature that upset the Kingdom’s peace & serenity in the last chapter of the saga. The guys have always been into epic concepts so they continue that legacy on this album too.

Kaledon’s Euro power metal is embellished with various symphonic, epic & traditional metal elements... following the band’s music tradition since their first album. Thus, expect no surprises or any new features here. They do not claim to have “discovered America”… they are just one of those who hold the Euro (epic/sympho) power metal flag high. The production is also pretty good. There’s also a guest appearance by the renowned singer Fabio Leone (Rhapsody of Fire, Vision Divine) on the song “A Dark Prison”.

Not much to say about this album. It is what it is… power metal with all its clichés and the things we (once) liked about this genre. I said “once” previously for I’m no longer so much into (Euro) power metal as I used to be a decade or so ago. Undoubtedly, there are many younger guys around that fancy this kind of music and support it in any case.
