Johnny Lima
My Revolution
Independent Release
2014
At a time that independent releases are becoming more and more popular among artists & bands, Johnny Lima decided to take that road and try to fund his newest work through his own fans. He tried it and he won! You see many try to get funded by their fans but fewer than half succeed. That thing showed that Johnny has indeed some very die-hard fans. Definitely, when musicians/bands see their fans supporting them in such a way they feel even more confident & positive.
On “My Revolution” Johnny Lima does what he knows to do best. He delivers hard rock, melodic rock,AOR & rock & roll music from the heart. Sometimes into 80s, others kinda “modern”, but the bottom line is the same… melodic hard rockin’ tasteful music with hooks. Def Leppard, Bon Jovi, Motley Crue, Danger Danger, Bryan Adams, Alice Cooper, Scorpions and so on are all blended together and filtered under Johnny’s personal rock sieve. Johnny sounds amazingly good. He exhales a positive & self-assured aura throughout his songs. It’s obvious that he has worked hard on the songs. Just listen to the hooks, the song arrangements and all that (80s) sweet feeling they have. The production is also great.
I still wonder why no label released this album… but ya know, nowadays it’s better for the artists to get the direct support of the fans rather than having some labels making their life uneasy. “My Revolution” is a wonderfully made album, full of hard rock & melodic rock tunes. Surely, one will find their own favorites among 15 tracks! Johnny Lima is in deadly earnest when it comes to rock & roll music. He has been around for many years in order to know how to play the game. And you know what? “My Revolution” is so well-made that it makes other releases of the same genre sound somewhat amateurish and flavorless. To sum up, if you fancy melodic (hard) rock music then you have to get this album… and if you want a few more extra reasons then listen to: “Happily Ever After You”, “You’re The Drug I Wanna Get High On”, “Blame It on Love”, “I Can’t Love You Any More”, “Couldn’t Be the One”, “Nowhere Left to Go”, “Into the Light”, “Deeper Into You” & “Maybe You’re Right, Maybe It’s Wrong”. It’s true that the more time you spend listening to “My Revolution” the more you will be seduced by its musical allure…
