Hellspray is a hard n’ heavy band that’s hailing from Jönkping, Sweden. It was formed in 2005 and after a couple of years, in 2007, the guys managed to release their first EP “Full moon in Plainfield” and two years later the EP “Pandemonium”… which was also the first release with their new singer Anders Moberg. In the meantime, they played in several festivals among them, in the famous Sweden Rock Festival in 2010. A year later, they signed a contract with Perris records and after some months the band’s full length debut album was finally released.

The band is influenced by some big metal bands like Black Sabbath (mostly with Dio), Metallica (yeah I know those sharp heavy riffs… thanks to Mustaine and Hetfield), Pantera (“Cowboys…” era) and Black Label Society… but it also has some euro power metal elements. They have built up a very heavy sound; the vocals are harsh (and melodic sometimes) and brought Phil Anselmo (at times) on my mind. Overall, the band is very tight and plays well. Actually, the album features some good hard n’ heavy songs like: “Artificial Love”, “Count Your Blessings”, “Free Fall” and “Pandemonium”… that shows the band is tryin’ to find their personal sound… then again… those euro power metal influences are not helping them at all… they are quite confusing in the end… I believe that due to the vocalist, they must focus more on the heavier sound of Pantera, Metallica and Black Label Society… and get rid of all those power metal elements that just don’t do them good. Apparently, that’s just my point of view… afar from all these, the band is talented and if they work harder and fix some things, they can release something really interesting in the years to come.
