The Greek symphonic metalers Fallen Arise return with their sophomore album titled “Adeline”, two years after their debut “Ethereal”. The band has also a new bassist, Aggelos Mal (Arkovlies, Daylight Misery), on its ranks. The lyrical concept on the new album is based on the works of fabled writers like Bram Stoker, Wilkie Collins and Anne Rice.

“Adeline” is a more intense, complete & mature album than “Ethereal”. There’s a general update on the band’s sound, songwriting & orchestration part. The melodies are memorable and the alternation between female and male vocals is wonderful. The “beauty/beast” vocal style is fine too, but I tend to prefer the clean male vocals, for that extreme style is way too overdone in our time and has very less interest any more. Fallen Arise blends finely symphonic metal with gothic, atmospheric & extreme elements.

The symphonic parts are also very enhanced & expressive. The band has worked with 40 well-known musicians, from the National Opera, the Athens State Orchestra, the NERIT Orchestra and the Piraeus Concert Band. The album also features guest appearances by Bob Katsionis (Firewind, Outloud), Siegfried Samer (Visions Of Atlantis, Dragony) and Fotis Benardo (ex-Septic Flesh, SixforNine). The band has worked carefully on the orchestration and that’s why the metallic parts have blended so harmonically with the symphonic ones. Spyla is a great singer that makes the songs even more enchanting with her beautiful voice.

“Adeline” has also a theatrical twist/atmosphere, thing which is present on their live shows where they are accompanied by professional actors, along with video projection that consists of interactive animation. The production is powerful and heavy. The album was recorded, mixed, produced and mastered at Devasoundz Studios, Athens, Greece by Fotis Benardo (SiXforNinE, ex-Septicflesh, ex-Chaostar) with the valuable help of Thimios Krikos (InnerWish, Diviner) and Thanos Jan (Inactive Messiah). It’s so hopeful to see that such a significant album production can come out from a Greek studio. The hard work always pays off.

If you consider yourself to be a symphonic metal fan and wanna find out any new bands that will excite you, then do try out Fallen Arise and you won’t be disappointed. The band has worked so hard to deliver such a refine outcome with “Adeline” and the least they deserve is to expand their fanbase. Fallen Arise have raised the bar with their new album and they are already crossing the long road which leads to success...
