Beyond the Gates is a brand new festival located in Bergen, Norway. The festival takes pride in being an alternative for those who still like to indulge in the vibrant underground scene and search for exciting new artists in the various niches black, death, thrash, doom and heavy metal.
We’re very proud to announce four brand new names for the first edition of the Beyond the Gates festival, set to take place in Bergen 23rd -25th of August this summer.
Before we present the line-up additions we need to inform that unfortunately aussie thrasher ASSAULTER has been forced to pull out due to logistical issues, NECROCURSE from Sweden will take their spot.
IN SOLITUDE (S)
These Swedes has established themselves as one of the most promising acts on the European heavy metal circuit. In Solitudes latest album "The World. The Flesh. The Devil" is a tour de force of occult lyrics and classic metal riffs, derived from classic acts like Mercyful Fate and Iron Maiden. Not only are their albums as strong as any, their live shows are equally spine chilling. Heavy metal warning.

YEAR OF THE GOAT (S)
Bringing back the aura of 60’s and 70’s cult acts such as Coven and Black Widow, Swedens Year of the Goat has created some remarkable music. Their debut mini album “Lucem Ferre” is a prime example of how this bunch combine the influence from this area with a more modern approach. A must see for fans of contemporary bands such as Ghost, The Devil’s Blood, Witchcraft and Graveyard.

NECROCURSE (S)
Helmed by Hellbutcher from Nifelheim, Necrocult delivers thrash and black metal infused Swedish death metal the old school way – nothing less. So far Necrocurse has released a MCD called “Shape of Death” and a MC entiteled “Insane Curse of Morbidity”. A full-length album is expected later this year. The band has only done a handful of shows so far, including a Uddevalla-gig with Entombed. In other words, this is exclusive stuff.

HETROERTZEN (CH)
Hetroertzen was spawned in the darkest abyss of Chile back in 1997. Since then the quartet has explored the mystical ways of the occult with several stellar releases throughout the years. 2010 saw the release of the highly acclaimed “Exaltation of Wisdom”, showcasing their unique take on black metal. The band has since the formation moved to Sweden and judging by their previous performances, they are a truly magical experience live on stage.

Bergen gets a brand new metal festival:
Ladies and metal gents, we’re extremely happy to announce a brand new metal festival in Bergen this summer. Beyond the Gates (yes, it’s indeed named after the seminal Possessed album we all love dearly) will take place at the Garage rock club the last weekend of August - the 23rd – 25th to be precise.
Comments Beyond the Gates booking agent, Torgrim Øyre:
“We want to focus on less established bands that we believe deserve attention. Beyond the Gates is here to give the genuine metal lover a place to experience new great music together with fellow hardcore fans. Beyond the Gates takes pride in being an alternative for those who still like to indulge in the vibrant underground scene and search for exciting new artists in the various niches black, death, thrash, doom and heavy metal.
Bergen has played a crucial role when it comes to extreme metal for the past 20 years and we see it as our task to provide this great city with a place where metal music is celebrated and cherished. The festival will also present a selection of established favorite artists, but is primarily a place for rising stars. Beyond the Gates promise a full-on weekend with shit loads of great bands, DJ’s, listening parties and all the mayhem that comes with a festival of this nature.
See you in all in Bergen".
