I kinda remember the debut album by Slegest, the band that Ese formed as soon as he left Veid. I remember how “twisted”, “weird” and “odd” the debut sounded and I wanted to see what has changed on the band’s camp since the last time.

Well, not much has changed musically, as Ese continues to blend heavy rock, hard rock & classic rock (70s & 80s era) with black metal & extreme metal creating a black & roll rockin’ music amalgam, strange enough to cause several music abnormalities, especially during the nighttime. The production is somewhat “raw” & “dated”, but quite powerful. The album was recorded in Conclave & Earshot Studio and Systrond Studio with Bjornar E. Nilsen (Vulture Industries) who also mixed it. Ese did the production, while the album was mastered by Herbrand Larsen (Enslaved) in Bergen 2015. Moreover, Grutle Kjellson from Enslaved is featured on the track “Som i eit endelikt” as guest vocalist.

If you happen to like the debut, then “Vidsyn” will appeal to you much more, as it’s a bit more mature and well-crafted. Then again, albums such as this, address a specific audience that likes “the strange music blending” and fancies the dark/black site of rock/metal music as well. The final choice is up to you as always…
