Midnight Eternal is a US female fronted band with a scantly clad frontwoman who might or might not give in to the temptation to claim that male fans are sexist in a feminist delirium. At best she’s an average singer – with her vocals sounding a little weak and whiney even a tad nasal in places which is sort of annoying.
The band is able to craft songs in the mid Nightwish, Sonata Arctica, early-pre Capri Amberian Dawn, Delain, Xandria and Sirenia to name a few and they might appeal to fans of those bands, since they’re not “terrible” songwriters (but not great either with boredom setting in after a couple of tracks). But on the other hand as an entry to an overpopulated sub-genre where competition is fierce, Midnight Eternal an EP and an album into their career, pose no threat to the bigger names.
All the name dropping they do about, who mixed and who painted their cover, can’t really masquerade the weak vocals. Either sing in a more comfortable fact/way or just step down. Off course middle aged power metal fans will eat up anything so… who knows.
