If anything else, Kingcrow are a hard working band that has a certain vision for its music and evolves with every release. Starting out in Italy in 1996, these guys made it through all the way and now they are releasing their fifth full-length album, entitled “In Crescendo”, under a new label.

How this band works on the song arrangements and presents an atmospheric and melodic yet rockin’ result is appealing. Taking the gloomy moments of Floyd and embellishing them with several Porcupine Tree, Riverside, Opeth (mellow side), Star One, Circus Maximus, Spock’s Beard features but without losing their individual vision and their character as a band, they did come up with a personal & inspired outcome. You know it’s not easy to do so, especially nowadays that it’s much easier to “copy-paste” some big bands and believe that this is enough so as to be successful. The production, which is fabulous, was taken care of by guitarist Diego and the drummer Thundra at Sound Under Pressure in Rome, the album was then mixed by Giampiero Ulacco and mastered by Alan Douches at West West Side Music. There’s also a new member on board, the bassist Francesco D’Errico.

Having listened to many prog rock/metal albums the last years, I do know what I prefer and like about this music genre. Kingcrow are one of those bands that can grab your attention with their alluring melodies but they can also impress one with their smart orchestration. Kingcrow seem to be indeed “In Crescendo”, as this is their finest release to date and they look as if they’re ready to make the next big step in their career. The band has already scheduled an overseas tour in the USA and Canada in April and May, 2013, hence I think that this will give ‘em the chance to be heard and appreciated by a larger audience. “In Crescendo” is a wonderful, moody and mellow journey that you are going to cherish throughout the way…
