In our days that the 70s “neo-retro” rock music is in fashion, each and every shabby musician thinks they can steal some of the shine the 70s rock bands used to have. This is becoming more than annoying, especially when you see those irrelevant with this kind for music musicians having somehow seen “the light” and “heard the call”! Is it for the money or is it just me?!

Anyway, The Birds of Satan (does Satan also have birds in his grimy dominion apart from numerous other filthy creatures?!) are characterized as a “prog rock supergroup” by the press. But why’s that? Cuz the band’s drummer is the well-known Taylor Hawkins from Foo Fighters! When did Foo Fighters become that important for rock music?!! Hehehe is this a joke?! A band that can hardly play the basics… can any of its members become a prog rock guru or what?!! Get outta here! The other two members are Wiley Hodgden on vocals & bass guitar and Mick Murphy on guitar both members of Chevy Metal.

The fancy production cannot hide the band’s major drawbacks. The songwriting lacks terribly and except for various “stolen ideas” it has nothing fresh or notable to showcase. All told, the album is not very listenable; it’s kinda dull and it becomes tiresome after a while. Ahh and this is not prog rock neither classic rock… it’s more of a wannabe mix one…
