Former Black Sabbath keyboardist Geoff Nicholls has died at the aged of 68, after a battle with lung cancer. The keyboardist passed away on January 28th, 2017.
Tony Iommi posted on his FB page:
“I'm so saddened to hear the loss of one of my dearest and closest friends Geoff Nicholls. He's been suffering for a while now with lung cancer and he lost his battle this morning. Geoff and I have always been very close and he has been a real true friend to me and supported me all the way for nearly 40 years. I will miss him dearly and he will live in my heart until we meet again. Rest In Peace my dear friend”.
Lengedary producer Chris Tsangarides commented on Tony's post:
“Aah no, very saddened by this news! It was through Geoff's original band Bandy Legs, later changed the name to Quartz that I met him and you Tony, you were producing their album and I got to be the engineer... we all had a great fun time together, so many stories I could tell... he then joined you in Sabbath on keyboard duties... and we continued to run into each other over the years, but the best time was when in a moment of boredom during the "Eternal idol" sessions we formed TIN... the band lasted the day, Tsangarides... Iommi... Nichols... a tremendous fun loving kind human being... my condolences to you his family and friends... RIP Geoff, God Bless xx.”
Ozzy Osbourne stated:
“Geoff Nicholls was a great friend of mine for a long time. He will be greatly missed. I'm very saddened at the news”.
