Sword
Live Hammersmith
Independent Release
2017
If there’s a band that has been criminally underrated, it’s Canada’s Sword; the band that in 1986 released one of the most seminal albums, in metal ever, “Metalized”, whose title is as apt as could ever get in an album that combines the British melody and sensitivity, with the American volume and attitude to create a crazy turbo charged cross between Metallica and Priest, Iron Maiden and Jag Panzer and in general what was oh, so good about metal.
“Live in Hammersmith” is a pretty much official “soundboard quality bootleg” w/o any editing of the performances, raw and booming, with all the songs from the debut plus a preview of the then unreleased “Prepare to Die” from their sophomore, to add some spice. Everything is here, the biker anthem, “FTW”, “Outta Control”, “Children of Heaven”… you name it. It was recorded during Sword’s tour as support act for Motörhead on 10 December 1987. And it’s an absolute must have. If you don’t get “Sword” you might as well be dead, to quote some other Canadians…
