Solisia
UniverSeasons
Scarlet Records
2012
I remember this Italian female fronted band from 2010 when they released their debut album. I can recall they had a very good singer and some good ideas here & there. Time has passed, that singer left the band and now a new one, Elie Syrelia, has stepped in. There goes a new bassist Andrea Arcangeli (DGM) too. The new singer Elie has a more rockin’ & powerful voice, she’s not a soprano and that’s something I like.
The guys are now more matured, contrary to their debut. They continue in the same musical direction, by blending symphonic power metal, with classical, atmospheric, prog & heavy themes. They sound tighter and they seem to know what they wanna achieve. The production is superb… as they did take a better care of it this time. The album was recorded, mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni (DGM) at Domination Studios. The album’s lyrical theme is a concept and it’s dealing with a philosophical issue based on the condition of the human race.
Even though some cliché parts from the specific genre are all over this album, none can argue that “UniverSeasons” is not a well-performed album in the least. The fans of symphonic power metal genre will find a lot of things to revel in here and I’m sure that they will also adore Elie’s voice & presence. “UniverSeasons” is a solid release that creates more anticipation for the band’s next steps.
