Shredhead
Death is Righteous
Mighty Music
2015
Shredhead are some death/thrashers originally from Israel (now based in Germany), who are about to release their sophomore album “Death is Righteous”.
The band has a groovy and occasionally more straightforward sound that at times has one foot in the Bay Area style (an amalgam of all the Big 4 bands esp Exodus and Testament of old with bits of Metallica thrown in), at other times rips a page from more hardcore bands and occasionally even a bit of Floridian death metal, but keeping it very melodic. The vocals are really extreme and sick…
Tue Madsen who mixed and mastered this and has worked with people like Suicide Silence, The Haunted, Aborted, Sick of It All has really given the band a really, heavy and edgy sound and if it wasn’t for their riffing being a bit monotonous, I’d say they’d, they sound pretty damn good. I like how they say in their press release how they have sort of “made things” heavier, groovier and with more variation… yeah… amidst the onslaught, there’s a minute and half of an acoustic intro and a couple of song might be a litttttttle, slower, than a machine gun… nice one! Hahaha…
The band seems to be preoccupied with some serious and deep philosophical concept, concerning how death comes to us all in the end, just as it should. Alas poor fookers Hamlet and you Yorick, fine fellas you, eat your little hearts out and move over, Shredhead are here...
