Overkill
The Electric Age
Nuclear Blast
2012
The New Jersey thrashers, Overkill, are back with a new album (the 16th studio release) after two years since “Ironbound”… which spread smiles on the thrash community all over the world. Although they were formed back in 1980… they never made it to the “Big Four”, but they are still considered as one of the “second tier” thrash bands.
“The Electric Age” is perhaps better than the previous one… and a very strong work in general. It has all those elements that will excite the thrash metalers such as: fast drumming, furious guitars… Blitz’s distinctive vocals… and a very powerful & heavy production. The album was recorded and mixed at Gain Studios in New Jersey, owned and operated by Overkill bassist D.D. Verni. The sound has some 80s touches… but it is also rather fresh and punchy. If you are a fan of the band then you will be totally satisfied with “The Electric Age”. Likewise, if you’re a die-hard 80s thrasher better try this one out.
