Midnight Bullet
Lose My Face

Midnight Bullet is a Finnish band which was formed in 2009. This is their second release in 5 years of existence. The band’s music is an amalgam of the (Scnadi) Finnish heavy melodic metal and gothic metal sound along with the European & Us heavy-thrash one. Add to that some punk-rock attitude and you’re in.
It’s true that Midnight Bullet sounds like their co-patriots Sentenced at times. That’s both good and bad at the same time. They could have been the “new” Sentenced or something close to that but it seems that they haven’t settled down on the music style they wanna play. Some more Metallica-based (heavy-thrash) tracks just do not fit the album’s overall atmosphere. The vocalist Tuomas reminded too much of Ville Laihiala. The production is heavy, powerful and tight.
Do not take this the wrong way, the band has some very good melodic metal with a goth edge tracks. The refrains on most tracks are also quite fine & melodious. They are totally following the right way, but they need to find their music identity and sometimes be a tad more original. I think that “Lose My Face” will put them in the game and that will give em the chance to focus on a certain music style and work on their own sound even more. After all, it wouldn’t be a bad thing to find some band that could follow Sentenced’s path… but not to be a clone – just not to be misunderstood.
