Death Alley is a Dutch combo that seems to mix, 70s rock and punk with an ounce of psychedelic substances, in a bizarre combo of proto heavy rock with punk energy and fuzzy soundscapes.
If you can imagine something between The Free, Motorhead with a bit of Sabbath and the Ramones, melting in a pot, then you get the kind of stew, that Death Alley’s music is all about. They do have the necessary authority and authenticity to try and sell their retro sound as something new and overall there ain’t any “bad” songs on the album, as they tend to be pretty short and to the point real, with maybe “Over Under” (seriously?) and the title track standing a cut above the rest songs that tend to be more speeding and punk flavored, with the exception of the really (didn’t see that coming) nearly thirteen minutes long “Supernatural Predator”, which is another heavy psych track, of about five minutes in reality followed by a loose jam, for the rest of its duration…
My new favorite band, as their press agent would like to “sell” them? No not really, but hey, I didn’t mind them at all, strutting their stuff as they do... people who like 70s rock are very likely to dig this... a lot.
