Riddles, Ruins & Revelations
Napalm Records
2021
Sirenia’s new album “Riddles, Ruins & Revelations”, their 10th studio album, is now out via Napalm Records. This new effort continues on the sound that Sirenia is most known for.
With crisp vocals from lead singer Emmanuelle Zoldan, they have continued on the operatic power metal sound. There are some great synth parts in many of the songs as well. The one that sticks out to me the most is the rhythm on the very first track, “Addiction No. 1”, coupled with matching, heavily distorted guitars it makes the album sound massive right from the beginning. It seems like they have incorporated those heavier synths into their overall sound and songwriting than their previous album, which I find to be great because it's a nice layer of depth to the overall sound.
The energy of “Addiction No. 1” is carried all the way through the album. The only place where the album kind of relents from that fast paced energy, is in the second half of “This Curse of Mine”, that’s only until the song goes back into a ripping guitar solo and into the final verse.
With Sirenia’s trademark operatic vocals, and the heavy riffs and ripping solos. This is a fantastic album from start to finish. Check it out, especially if you are into the more operatic styling of vocals that accompany the power sound.
