Having been formed a couple of years ago, Revenience, a newcomer form Italy, releases their debut album titled “Daedalum”. So what’s this new band all about? Revenience is a female-fronted metal act playing an amalgam of metal, symphonic, extreme, melodic and gothic music – all that under a modern veil. At times they reminded me of Amaranthe but without being so intense of powerful. A mix of Amaranthe, Delain, Lacuna Coil, Evanescence & Within Tempatation would be fairer but without ever reaching the levels of those acts.

The band is moving around the vocalist Debora Ceneri (ex-Nemoralis)… and in a way one can say that Revenience evolved from Nemoralis’ ashes as 4 members out of five used to be in the aforementioned band. Anyway, Revenience play well but they lack fine and memorable hooks and melodies. The songs are OK without having anything memorable so no matter how many times you listen to them, at the end, you won’t remember a damn thing. This is the part they should utterly focus. I think they rushed a bit to release their debut album, but that was their own call. The production is good, even though it could have been more powerful and heavy on the whole.

They should work on the disadvantages and come up with memorable melodies if they wanna take their chances in this tsunami of new releases that come out every month or so. Still, they have a long way to cover…
