Lynn Allen is an America pompy melodic rock band that has been a going concern since the mid-80s, without ever managing to register any serious sales or to create a big following… their debut came out on the now defunct but cult Long Island label, which is probably one of their finest moments, but other than that they’ve come up with another 4 or 5 albums I think.
The problem with them is the similarity between compositions in terms of tempo and feel, making the songs hard to tell apart. Billy Peiffer, their singer, is OK, but not really, one of the finest singers you’ve ever heard and a couple of songs like “Falling” for instance have bizarre extended fade out endings(?!?) To my mind the best comparison would be with the Dutch melodic outfit Terra Nova, only Lynn Allen is somewhat not that good...
A number of songs do tend to be a slight cut above the rest, like the somewhat more energetic opener “Wheels Keep Turning”, “I Will” and “She is the One” with the rest of the songs (7 I think) being average and too similar to cause any great sensation… not bad then, but not something really good either.
