Subterranean Masquerade is a newcomer which was created by members of Novembers Doom, Epoch Of Unlight and Agalloch. The band plays progressive metal – If their strange music could be named like this – with aggressive/clean vocals, lots of instruments and lots of guest musicians. Their influences can be found in death, black, progressive and folk metal as well! So, bands like Opeth, Anathema, Pink Floyd, Porcupine Tree etc. have influenced these guys...

The vocalist Paul Kuhr (Novembers Doom) sings with clean and brutal vocals and he is doing a very good job, as always, in both vocal styles. The other mastermind of the band Tomer Pink plays the guitars (together with Jake Delpolitte) and he sounds interesting in the way he approaches the listener. Sometimes in a melancholic – sad way and others in a wild and psychedelic way.

There are also almost 10 guest musicians and you will be able to listen to instruments like: piano, Hammond, mandolin, horn, flute and some more. At times they create an almost folk atmosphere but other than that, they also sound like an orchestra! Finally, I must mention that you will find elements from jazz music along with other music styles such as classical, in this album. The production is just great and crystal clear. Generally, I think this is a very nice album for those who like experimental music and I believe that the band can offer us even better moments in due time, because all the musicians are very talented...
