Strange Daze is a Minneapolis combo that plays modern rock that manages to avoid sounding too grungy by being melodic, but without becoming completely smaltzy and tuneless like say the ultra-successful Nickelback, even though they probably appeal to a similar crowd.

Apparently the producer of the first couple of recordings the band did, one Brian Johnson (no not that BJ!) passed a CD along to a couple of his musician pals and they collectively decided to get behind the band’s efforts. Mixed by Kirk Kelsey, best known for his co-producing/engineering on albums for Creed and 3 Doors Down (whose guitarist Chris Henderson is one of the guys who got involved), the album has a nice beefy production that helps the band a great deal in their quest to make the perfect modern day radio (hard) rock…

Much better than some here today gone tomorrow “modern rock” stars that are nowadays the subject of “where are they now”, despite having debuted only a few years ago, Strange Daze are not however a band that will set the world or indeed the airwaves on fire but they might warp them into microwaves and heat up the place, which ain’t half as bad I suppose.

For fans of Creed, Alter Bridge, 3 Doors Down, Nickelback… so inherently probably not exactly the demographic of this site (I hope)… but still a fairly decent attempt…
