Stala & So. is a long-time running band, since they took shape in 1997, but it wasn’t until the last 2-3 years they made their presence to the fans widely known. Having on its ranks the ex-Lordi drummer Kita, Stala on vocals and the also former Lordi bass player Kalma or else, Nick Gore, this band obviously had one thing in mind… to create good up-tempo rockin’ music as in the 70s & the 80s.

This is the band’s second release and this time the guys have reduced most of the 70s glam rock elements and moved into the melodic (hard) rock territory of the 80s. The powerful & rockin’ sound, the renowned Beau Hill (Ratt, Europe, Alice Cooper, Twisted Sister, Warrant etc.) has also offered a helping hand here, along with the easy-listening tunes that have strong & catchy refrains make this album a good choice for the Sping/Summer time.

“Play Another Round” is one of those albums that you can easily listen to your car loud enough, or write a couple of songs to several compilations to carry with you on the beach or your trips. The strongest tracks, according to me, are: “Rock until I’m Done”, “Tokyo Delights” (anything with Tokyo will do for me!), “The Boys are Having Fun”, “Never Again” (probably the album’s hit), “All She Wrote” (wonderful ballad) & “For Your Love”. The rest of the tracks are fine but they could have avoided a couple of cheesy songs as well.

The European edition has a re-make of “Pamela”, which was originally featured on the band’s debut album and it reached the Finland finals for the Eurovision song contest in 2011 (that Lordi Eurovision thing is haunting them) and an acoustic version of Ozzy’s “Shot in the Dark”. When all is said and done, “Play Another Round” can be considered as a very pleasant, lively and positive melodic rock album…
