I remember reviewing the band’s second album “Natural Causes” a few years back and liking it a fair bit. In fact the band has been around for some fourteen years. They have progressed to a more homogenized sound these days, drawing inspiration from artists such as Radiohead, Muse, Porcupine Tree, Oceansize, The Mars Volta and Dream Theater as well as Pain Of Salvation. Their overall style is epic poppy prog, with rock influences and some traces of metal all under a very modern catalyst with frequent use of electronics and strong keyboard presence. I suppose that some line-up changes they recently had – ie their entire rhythm section might – or might not have something to do with that slight shift towards modernity.
From my point of view, there are many more bands that do it well and I liked the band better previously. Their sense of melody is not bad, but at 52 minutes long the album failed to impress me throughout. There were moments I guess. Current fans of Pain Of Salvation, Steve Wilson etc. might like them, I guess.
