Solity
Booze Blues and Broken Bones
Independent Release
2012
Solity is a newcomer form Sweden, which was formed in 2004 but it was three years later when it became more active as it started playing and recording material for the first demo. After some live shows and a few releases such as: an EP and a single… they are finally presenting their debut album. The original name of the band was Souls of Liberty… but the band claims that after having written it down on a piece of paper they decided that the short version “Solity” would be simpler to remember and so it is.
The guys have taken the more melodic features of Metallica, Megadeth, Trivium, Testament etc. and mixed them with the groovy, modern heavier ones of Mustasch, Sparzanza & Corroded among others… presenting an interesting music blend of melodic groovy hard n’ heavy music, which is filtered by their own personality. If the above description didn’t give you a hint… just think of these various music styles like: heavy metal, (melodic) hard rock, thrash metal and modern/groove metal… blended together. Solity do have a (Steel Panther-like) sense of humor (“Bitch”, “Once Upon A Time” )… a tuneful hard & rhythm side (“Playboy Boogie”, “Breaking News”, “The End”, “Mind The Gap (Blackout)” & “Going Home”) and a groovier/heavier aspect (“Down the River”, “Never Enough”, “Shit Rolls Downhill”) in their music, making the final outcome rather diverse and pleasant. Moreover, the production is so heavy and dynamic… showing all the big budget bands out there how a great production should be done.
Solity has powerfully entered the scene and they can improve and go further… for they’ve got what it takes. Their musical variety is fine but they must also musically focus on songs like “Down the River” & “Going Home”, which are the best tunes here in my opinion. Keep an eye on this band for the future…
