The Sitting Bull And The Bullshitters
Still Undead
Inverse Records
2015
Here’s a newcomer with the “strange name” The Sitting Bull And The Bullshitters from South East of Finland. The band was formed by the vocalist & songwriter Markku Pihlaja from Manitou (the Finnish act) and Kaihoro.
The guys, as their name declares, are not to be taken “too seriously” – meaning that they rock and they have fun & that’s all that matters after all, right? Their music is mostly based on the classic rock forms of the 70s (you know, Hammond etc.). Add various folk-rock and prog rock touches to that and you got it all together. The production is fine but I think it should have been somewhat louder & tighter.
“Still Undead” is a solid album on the whole. The guys play by the book and follow the certain basics of the 70s without adding anything new to that. They cannot be blamed for playing the music they fancy and they have fun by doing so – it’s just that it takes more originality & inspiration so as not to get lost in today’s music jungle…
