Sin’ Sound may be a newcomer but its members are old fellows on the Italian underground scene. After having won a contest, last winter, that was arranged by Atomic Stuff at Happy Days Bar, they signed with the label and started working on their debut album.

The band’s “classic” rock sound is exquisitely embellished with funky, blues, psychedelic 70s & atmospheric elements. Just add the trumpet and the sax that are permanently part of their sound (the group consists of 7 members) and you have a fully rich & diverse sound away from the typical rock one. I like the way they blend all those different musical influences together and the way they deliver their tunes. Sometimes they are more into the 70s psychedelic side and others closer to the classic rock sound. Nice melodies, wonderful performances and a warm, tight & rockin’ production. Well, I guess that’s not a surprise as the album was completely recorded with a 24-track analogical recorder, Studer A80 MKII, on a two inches tape, mixed on a Trident Series 65 console directly on an analogical recorder Otari MTR12 of 1/4 inch. Wow! Do you know what it takes to do such a thing in our time? The guys got nuts!

Without being retro, but with a “warm analog” sound that reminds of several 70s recordings, along with a big influential diversity on their music, Sin’ Sound released a refined & unconventional album that will bring joy to the devotees of an era when music was mostly into “weird” sounds, psycho atmospheres, poetic words and imagination. At first, I was a bit skeptical over this but after a few spins I started to get into it. “From The Underground” is indeed a remarkable album… it will be a pity not to try it at least.
