Shiraz Lane is a Finnish band that is sort of young, but despite their age is pretty much into churning out some pretty fine hard rock. But I do have a big issue with them. Their singer, who I am guessing is a dude, has the hollowest sounding tenor voice I‘ve heard and he keeps belting out, in a manner that makes him sound like a young girl. I can’t think of anything else like that. Oh wait… it’s a bit like a totally clean Axl Rose without any grit or charm, singing some decent line but it’s annoying…

While usually a singer that can sing high is a “blessing” this guy is just taking it to ridiculous levels and becomes annoying… when he trims it down a bit (ie part of “House of Cards”) he’s sorta OK. In “Begging for Mercy” he sounds worse than the guy from The Darkness… for f@cks sake… for most of its duration. And while I did remember of a band that has a lot of falsettos, but is great and that would be JoNo, Shiraz Lane while having a bunch of good songs, need to either ground their singer or changing altogether… because this seriously is exploring “Hanson” not “Hansel” territory…

Not entirely terrible… but the singer should go on and join a chipmunk musical or something not front a band, not while singing like that.
