Sentenced
The Cold White Light

After years of evolution and progression Sentenced have finally found the sound that fits them best. It won’t be over the top to say that Sentenced is among the top 5 gothic metal bands of our time. Why? Well, that’s easy to justify if you listen to “The Cold White Light”. The melodic Death Metal days are far behind… while a new Cold White Light is shivering at the end of the tunnel.
“The Cold White Light” is one of those albums that can make you fell anger, affection, sorrow, sadness, melancholy, nostalgia and so on while listening to it. The way the band has blended the “dark sorrowful melodies” with the heavier parts is incredible and very effective. It’s really hard to choose your favorite among so many great songs. Nonetheless, I’ll think that “You are the One” is an amazing gothic hymn that needs to be heard by all the gothic lovers and not only. This song alone makes the album worth-listening and worth getting of course… but do not hesitate for Sentenced have far too many aces up their sleeves. The production is also very clear and heavy, possibly the best production the guys ever had.
Sentenced finally made it. “The Cold White Light” is not only the best album of May but also one of the finest gothic metal albums of the 00s. It’s not hard to tell when a “classic” has been released and Sentenced did it… even if they haven’t quite grasped it as yet! What will the future bring for Sentenced? Well no one can actually answer to that question… I only know that Sentenced are one of the most successful goth metal bands of today & “The Cold White Light” for all the goth devotees out there…
