Saints Trade is a newcomer from Bologna, Italy which was formed in 2009. After several line-up changes and a few live shows on their homeland, the guys released their first mini-album “A Matter of Dreams” in 2012. Three years later the guys return with their debut full-length release entitled “Robbed in Paradise”. As the band claims the album title refers to that annoying feeling you experience when something unexpected happens in a place you consider ideal and safe. I’m sure every last one of us has experienced such a “weird situation” at least once in his life.

Saints Trade fancy the big 80s hard rock sound. Fortunately, they do not sound dated or retro. They seem to love the 80s US hard rock sound a lot and their music is influenced by all the major US and European bands of the 80s. Their production is more contemporary and “in your face” on the whole. The album was recorded at Pri Studio in Bologna with the great Roberto Priori (Danger Zone) in charge. Roberto also participates in “The Game”. Other guest appearances include the eminent guitarist Tommy Denander (Paul Stanley, Alice Cooper, Toto, Robin Beck, House Of Lords, etc.) on “Inside” and the keyboardist Pier Mazzini (Perfect View) on all tracks.

“Robbed in Paradise” is a positive, rockin’ and passionate album largely. I kinda like the track “Feel the Fire” more as the band has a more AOR/melodic rock oriented sound. It suits them well imo. I’d like to see them going that way in the future without losing their rockin’ attitude of course. All things considered, “Robbed in Paradise” is a really nice debut album by a promising band which will bother us further in the years to come…
