That was quite a surprise… seeing Romeo's Daughter back in business after almost 20 years! They appeared at Firefest in 2009… but no one had thought they would actually have in mind to go on and release a new album.

“Rapture” presents the band in the 21st century… their late 80s/early 90s elements are there as well… Leigh Matty’s voice still sounds wonderful and the songwriter and guitarist Craig Joiner is delivering rather more pop rock tunes that they used to do. Well, they were never an AOR or melodic rock band… they had some features from these music kinds but they always had that pop-rock and quite softer approach in their music. They do sound updated, but without having lost those 80s-90s influences. The sound is smooth and very clear… and there are several fine tunes here like: “Trippin’ Out”, “Bittersweet”, “Cannot Be the One”, “Lightning”, “Talkin’ Love” & “Will Be”.

Do not expect anything near the debut or “Delectable”… but that does not mean that those who like the more pop approach… won’t find fine moments in “Rapture”. Sometimes they remind me of The Blondie... with a more AOR-ish flavor.
