There are some genres that are harmonically blended together and others that aren’t… or bands/musicians who are trying to do so and are not doing it right. More or less, that’s the case with Radiance. That heavy metal, prog-power, symphonic, atmospheric, technical and experimental approach leaves much to be desired.

Firstly, there’s the poor and weak production. The poor sound quality of the digital promo makes it even worst. The truth is that this kind of production can easily be achieved in a home studio. I do not know if that’s the case here but it does sound like one.

Secondly, the complex and progressive parts are sorta detached and do not serve any profound reason. The long tracks (about 8 minutes) which are a majority, should have been shorter cuz’ there are times that they become a bit intolerable. You do not have to try to be prog if this ain’t your strong part… for it can turn out to be a catastrophe.

Thirdly, the vocal lines are rather flat and the riff-o-logy is so bland and ordinary that it drives you crazy. Overdone themes, plain ideas and typical atmospheric passages… along with an undesirable female voice (with a few insufferable soprano attempts) can make the final outcome deprived and tedious.

Sorry, but I think this band needs time and practice… although they have been around since 2004 and this is their debut release, I believe they weren’t ready for such an attempt. “Undying Diabolyca” is one of the most unlistenable and tiresome debuts I’ve come across in the last couple of years…
