Overtures
Entering the Maze
Sleaszy Rider Records
2013
Returning from the European tour with full new visions concerning their activity, Overtures immediately started working on their new third full-length album which is entitled “Entering the Maze”. There’s also a new guitarist, Adriano Crasnich, on the band’s camp.
The band’s heavy/power metal music has been updated as well as the band’s sound. Surely, the melodic metal references are still here but the band has approached its Italian heavy/power metal roots more. Solid musicianship, nice heavy riffs, good vocals and very good production. The mastering has been done by Sascha Paeth (Edguy, Kamelot, Epica & more) at Gate Studios in Wolfsburg. The sound is one step up in comparison to their past works.
The album starts very vigorously with “The Maze” which is among the top songs of the album. Alas, the band falls into the same mistake that almost every Euro power/metal band does today. They do not have very strong & memorable melodies and their sound isn’t very individualized in the long run. Don’t take this wrong, the album is solid but it doesn’t have what it takes so as to be something more than that…
