Offensive Ground is a newcomer from Sweden which was formed in 2011. After having experienced some major line-up changes, the band entered the studio in 2014 to record its debut album.
The band’s sound reminds you of the American hard rock/metal sound. Band’s like Metallica, Pantera, Machine Head, Black Label Society, Alice In Chains, Stone Sour, Disturbed, Avenged Sevenfold and so on have vastly influenced the band’s style. Certainly they have a “modern” twist on their sound but they seem to love the “riffy” metal music. The album was recorded, produced, mixed and mastered by Ronnie Björnström (Aeon) in Garage Land Studio. The sound is heavy and tight on the whole.
Even though Offensive Ground is a European act, they have a major love for the US metal sound. The band is now filtering its influences and they seem that they know where they’re going and what they want to achieve in due time. “Reborn” is a solid debut in general. It surely has its drawbacks especially on the originality part but the guys look as if they’re ready to work harder and more to overcome any downsides over time. They have the will and the passion to take it all the way so I wish them luck…
