Nuclear Aggressor
Condemned to Rot
Punishment 18 Records
2013
Nuclear Aggressor is a trio that hails from Italy and likes to play blackened thrash, inspired by early Kreator, very early Slayer, Exhumed, all the South American thrash/death combos, Sodom etc… they don’t really seek any laurels for technicality and they have only too speed settings, fast and faster!
With titles like: “Sudden Mütilation”, “Nuclear Aggressor”, “The Grave Awaits”, “E.N.D.”, “Condemned to Rot” etc... and track durations between 1minute and a few seconds an 4 minutes and a bit for only 2 songs, you pretty much get the picture… things are pretty relentless here!!! Which ain’t bad at all! It’s pretty fun, because these guys do what they do, proudly and quite originally. I mean they actually have achieved, the “said” 80s speed thrash sound – along with a very dry sound and retro-lo-fi, but not completely shitty – yet possibly – not any better than a modest budget would allow production.
I suppose the only issue, would be the fact that at 30 minutes, you’re all done in a blitz! And it’s all a little monotonous... but that’s really a bit inherent with the “genre” although, there’s a bit of variation, especially in the longer songs, where they are able to do more things... the faster ones... well they are over, before long so.... that’s about it...
For the fans of true thrash – these guys are far better than half of the “new” kids on the block, that the big companies promote as the new messiahs, of thrash. Much more “soul” in these guys.
