Do you remember Vanilla Ninja? Yeap, those 4 pretty Estonian ladies that took part in the Eurovision contest with the track “Cool Vibes” in 2005! The older might remember of them; the younger probably won’t have heard of them. Hence, what do those ladies have to do with Moonland? It’s easy if you read the whole title. It says Moonland featuring Lenna Kuurmaa. Leena was Vanilla Ninja’s lead singer. Leena released a couple of solo albums after she left Vanilla Ninja… but now it was about time to take part in one of the several Frontiers’ music projects.

Having by her side, no other than, Alessandro Del Vecchio (songwriting, production) along with his music team, Leena is making a return to her beloved pop-rock, AOR/melodic rock sound. It’s true that the album has a sweet late 80s early 90s vibe all over it. Leena will bring all the great female-fronted pop-rock acts around that era on your mind. She is a wonderful vocalist and a hot lady nonetheless! Alessandro has delivered a very fresh and rockin’ sound once again.

There are tracks that work better than others, but none of them is mediocre. For instance, “Heaven is to Be Close to You” is a charming melodic rocker. The only issue with this album is that it doesn’t feature 2-3 big hits and almost all the tracks are on the same pace and feeling. They are more than fine in general, but not anything that will drive you crazy at long last. Who knows… if this project becomes a band eventually and work more on certain music parts, it can come up with something truly remarkable in the near future…
