Lord of the Grave - Green Vapour

Lord of the Grave
Green Vapour
The Church Within
2012
4.5
Second work for the band which was formed in 2006 and had its debut album released in 2009. Working as a duo now, Rob Grave has taken over the bass as well except for the vocals & guitars, along with the new drummer Sam Wart.

Having a special love for Black Sabbath (who hasn’t after all?), they follow that traditional doom metal path with slow, hypnotic & sluggish guitar riffs and a fuzzy rockin’ sound. It might be good for all the doom metal maniacs but personally I do not like that doom approach at all. I find it kinda tedious & dull, especially when there are long songs without anything of interest to offer eventually. Anyhow, song titles like: “Raping Zombies” are hilarious indeed. I wonder… how can someone rape a zombie? Bearing the exceptional TV series “The Walking Dead” in mind, I think that’s sorta hard to achieve… but who knows…?!

If you do like your music being doom, creepy, slow, long & sluggish then, surely, you’re gonna find something good in this release. Unfortunately, this ain’t my cup of tea at all. Moreover the muddy production may be cool for this music genre but it doesn’t help that much generally.
