Kirra
Run Away
Pavement Entertainment
2016
Kirra is a band from Oklahoma, whose influences according to a press blurb are bands like Chevelle, Tool, Five Finger Death Punch, Seether, more or less what you’d call “Rock” in America, this moment; the low tuned, angst ridden, occasionally groovy sort of stuff that I quite hate.
Oh they also rip off a bit of Prong here and there on “Fly”, but that’s beside the point. I would guess that a bad mix between Chevelle and Creed would be the best description, with a bit more grit, vocally.
A couple of tracks in the middle, “Run Away” right through to “Should Have Been Gone” have a bit of an Alice In Chains vibe, but without the brilliant guitar work, but kinda work well enough to keep someone interested through a playthrough of the album that’s otherwise too monotonous and one trick, one that’s been done to death already.
