There’s a problem that I have with hobby journalists and also the sort of promoters, or vinyl “maniacs”... they might as well, deify anything, as long as they like the “genre”. Ie, load of epic, bands, no matter how bad, they are will be a “must” just because they have cliché titles or lyrics of the dungeon and dragons variety... it doesn’t matter how shitty their vocalists may be or how absolutely boring the songwriting might be – if it has references to “Vikings” or “steel” it checks the boxes, so it must be “good”… same goes for “doom”… as long as it’s rather slow and somewhat heavy, you’ll get all the weirdest comparison with some of the best bands and albums in the genre...

King Heavy, are a largely Chilean doom metal band utilizing a Belgian singer, from a band called Hooded Priest… their first full length after a split and an ep is a by the numbers, 70s influenced doom rock/metal album, more organic sounding, than a lot of its modern counterparts, but also pretty boring at the same time… their epic “nature” is debatable, and Luce Vee, their “bearded uncle” variety of a vocalist, has trouble sustaining some notes for sufficiently long time, especially when attempting some more epic phrasing, which causes his delivery to be rather “woobly”... that’s not vibrato, that’s a guy with a not very strong voice, whose overall not a very good singer and 45 minutes of by the numbers doom with recycled riffs and boring ideas.

I’m pretty sure, they’ll be playing a few of the “usual festivals” in front of drunker “swordbrothers” and “sisters”… well… sorry, but I found this album quite “comical” and utterly boring.
