If you wonder what Killer Be Killed is all about, I can directly tell you it is another music project by Max Cavalera (Soulfly, ex-Sepultura) on vocals & guitars along with Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan) on vocals & guitars, Troy Sanders (Mastodon) on bass & vocals and Dave Elitch (ex-The Mars Volta) on drums. I’m sure none can complain about the line-up huh!
The music here is an amalgam of the music style each guy plays on their actual bands. Extreme, melodic, modern, heavy, thrash, metalcore, alternative & sludge. It may not sound that promising to the traditional heavy/trash metal fans but I reckon the modern extreme core-like ones will take it more into account, as I assume they are the ones that this albums addresses to. The production is superb; it is obvious since the album was produced and mixed by Josh Wilbur (Gojira, Hatebreed, Lamb of God, Avenged Sevenfold etc.).
Apart from the major label, the big press exposure, the ads and the celebrated musicians who take part in this album… the bottom line is a poor, uninspired & uninteresting release with weak songwriting & an awful cover artwork. It will be forgotten in a couple of months… till a new project – I hope not with Max again– will pop out of the label’s drawers… and this thing never ends…
