Golden Resurrection
One Voice for the Kingdom
Liljegren Records
2013
Even though Golden Resurrection were formed in 2008 by Christian Liljegren (vocals) and Tommy ReinXeed (guitars/vocals), they have released their third work in 5 a year-period… not bad at all. Taking the good elements of their previous works as granted, they came up with a very good power metal album. The neo-classical features along with the heavy riffing at times have given the album, somehow, more variety. I do not tend to fancy European power metal releases anymore but there are some bands that try to embellish their sound with various other elements so as to make it more interesting in the end.
Golden Resurrection achieved such a thing in their third release, which is very well-performed and produced as well. Ronny Milianowicz (Primal Fear, Cans, Hammerfall, Michael Kiske, Amon Amarth, Wolf, Dionysus, Fergie Fredriksen etc.) helped the band a lot in the album mix. That’s rather obvious cuz’ the production is crackin’ in every part. There are also two new members on board, Svenne Jansson (Jerusalem) on keyboards & Alfred Fridhagen on drums. Everything has been carefully done here and I cannot help but talk about Tommy’s riffs and leads. This guy is a musical genius despite his youth… none can deny the fact that he’s a gifted musician at large.
“One Voice for the Kingdom” is the band’s finest moment thus far… but I kinda feel they’ve got more to give in the years to come. Their Japanese fans will go crazy for sure, while the European & US ones will also find it quite interesting and well-played. Obviously, you can be very original when it comes to European neoclassical/power metal but you actually need inspiration so as to come up with some damn good & melodic tunes. The last song “Moore Lord” which is a tribute to the one-of-a-kind Gary Moore is also wonderful. Tommy has studied Moore a lot. That song alone adds extra points to the final result. Overall, “One Voice for the Kingdom” won’t displease the fans of the genre…
