Gehennah
Too Loud to Live, Too Drunk to Die
Metal Blade Records
2016
With Motorhead dead in the water and Venom releasing rather sub-par albums for the last few years, the need to “speedy” libidinous hymns of blackened rock ‘n roll is being shifted from the classics to well no “new f@#king guys” but to some old school, road-dogs, by the name of Gehennah. That’s Jewish for the place, where all the fun took place, Hell!
The Swedes haven’t actually released any “proper” album since 1997’s “Decibel Rebel”… just half a dozen or so of singles… damn that last album was some twenty years ago! They haven’t gotten much better or too different with the passage of time and none of us is getting any younger or prettier so WTF!
If you knew them from back in the day, you know what to expect and if you didn’t… well they‘re the bastard nephews of Cronos, Lemmy and Quorthon so don’t expect Dream Theater chops and “sensitivity”. Get that whisky bottle out, take on some live(r)-insurance and prepare to get a hell of a whisky dick!
