Full Nothing is an international dark rock/metal project created in 2012 by Nicolas Marcos, Guillermo De Medio and Augusto Amicon. They did employ no less than eight different vocalists some of whom you might recognize and some you might not, people like Mats Leven (Therion, Malmsteen), Edu Falaschi (ex-Angra, Almah), Thomas Vikstrom (Candlemass, Therion etc), Kelly Sundown Carpenter (Outworld, Darkology, Zierler) and many more, at times solo-ing and at times complementing each other in some perfect harmonies etc…
The whole project, is more based on atmosphere than musical virtuosity per se, although these guys are no slouches when it comes to their performances but you might get some Evergrey meets Chroma Key etc., flashbacks here and there... it’s also quite interesting to hear some of these guys (almost in all cases tenors) who usually scream their heads off flexing their musical muscle on the lower parts of their range and then having another person harmonizing on top. It’s so seamless and appropriate with the music that at times it’s just too perfect. Also the cello that’s on most if not all tunes might be discreet but is definitely audible and at times makes its presence felt weaving some beautiful undercurrent melodies that really catch you off guard.
Quasi, symphonic, melancholic but also epic and grandiose in conception as well as in execution, Full Nothing’s debut took me by surprise but I could not help but be enthralled and amazed at the fragile perfection of their weird little musical adventure...
I couldn’t bring myself to actually desecrating the musical canvas that this album paints by pointing out moments that I liked over others, as this is one of the rare cases that the album might work on the song level but is so much more potent when experienced in its “entirety”. Well worth investigating further...
