Forever Still is a modern rock newcomer from Copenhagen, Denmark, which is fronted by the rockin’ beauty Maja Shining. After the release of their debut EP debut “Breaking Free” and some extensive touring, they entered the studio to record 3 EPs. The first was “Scars” (released in 2014) and the second, which was released right after, was “Save Me” (released in 2015). The release of their third EP (which hasn’t been released yet) will take place digitally for those who have the two previous EPs and are just missing the final puzzle, as Maria told me.

The tracks from these 3 EPs are all included in the band’s debut full-length album entitled “Tie Down”. The new tracks are: “Your Light”, “Alone”, “Break the Glass” & “Tied Down”. Forever Still’s music style is basically modern rock (see Flyleaf and Bring Me the Horizon) with various alternative, pop-rock & a few modern gothic, electro & atmospheric touches. I do think that the atmospheric side of theirs is way more interesting and they can built on that in the future. You see today’s modern rock stuff is OK and lots of bands try their luck on that road. So a new act like Forever Still, which has the tendencies to explore the modern gothic pop-rock path that’s mostly empty after Evanescence’s fiasco, is more likely to make it there and not get lost in the seas along with numerous new modern acts which play the same things more or less. Nonetheless, tracks such as: “Once Upon a Nightmare”, “Miss Madness”, “Save Me”, “Your Light” and “Tied Down” are some fine examples of what this band is capable of.

Maja’s voice is wonderful in every aspect and it’s the case where a female singer has the looks & the voice too! Swell! Let’s also not forget Maja’s music partners, Mikkel Haastrup on bass & guitar and Dennis Post on guitar. Mikkel wrote the music along with Maja as well. The production is very good on the whole. Let’s not forget that this is an independent work that has been produced by Mikkel. It has nothing to be jealous of other works but I guess that a bit more polished & big sound is what they will have on their next albums, especially if they found themselves under the wings of a major or big independent music label. If you fancy the abovementioned acts and modern rock with female vocals generally, then give a chance to this budding Danish newcomer and you won’t regret it.
