Well it seems that Poland does not only have some very strong prog rock/metal bands but also a few doom metal ones. Generally, Poland is doing pretty well in the metal scene, especially during the last few years and that’s very hopeful.

Evangelist are not new to the doom scene. The band’s members prefer to be anonymous, they focus on their music and in any case that’s what really matters. “Doominicanes” is the band’s second full-length release and they keep delivering pure doom metal to the world. They are truly into doom metal without restraints… just think of Black Sabbath, Candlemass, Solitiude Aeturnus, Reverend Bizarre and so on. Although they’ve got a little bit of everyone their major influences comes from the godfathers Candlemass. Their music as their name proclaims has also got a strong religious background.

To cut a long story short, if you do fancy doom metal music, with heavy riffs, nice vocals and strong musicianship then look no further. Evangelist has it all, even though the phrase “heard it all before” may enter your head while listening to the album. But honestly, I do not think there’s so much space for originality in the specific genre. Surely, “Doominicanes” addresses to the doom metal maniacs who can fully appreciate it…
