Downes Braide Association or DBA (if you prefer) return, three years after their debut “Pictures of You”, with a new album entitled “Suburban Ghosts”. I do not think that there’s a pop-rock music fan out there that doesn’t know who Geoff Downes is, but I’ll say (just in case) that he is a legendary keyboardist who has been in The Buggles, Asia and Yes. The rest is history. Chris Braide is an award winning British singer, songwriter and producer that lives in LA. Chris has also written and produced for various artists including Beyonce, Sia, Lana Del Rey, David Guetta, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera and Marc Almond.

“Suburban Ghosts” lyrically talks about isolation and loneliness in small town suburbia. Musically, DBA picks up from where they left off with their debut. Electro-pop, synth-pop & techno-pop, with a contemporary sound and a few atmospheric & art-prog-pop elements is the musical amalgam of “Suburban Ghosts”. Geoff nails it with his amazing performances and his smart orchestrations, while Chris has added that little extra thing to the final outcome with his soft voice and his incredible production skills. The album’s production is superb… but that’s nothing new, when it comes to Chris.

What I like about “Suburban Ghosts” is its free music spirit and the wonderful soundscapes it creates for as long as you travel along with it. Bits from the 70s & the 80s era will also come to mind on the way. This is an utterly fresh contemporary look on a music style which was huge during the 80s. But there’s more than that, since “Suburban Ghosts” has its own elegant & artistic character. It’s hard to go wrong with such gifted musicians like Downes & Braide… so if you’re into electro/synth/pop music do not think twice, just revel in it…
