Devariem is a German based clear cut thrash metal band walking in the path set by Exodus, Exhorder and Machine Head. "Planet Earth Ground Zero” is their debut full length album after their EP “Peace was Never an Option”.
"Planet Earth Ground Zero” is pretty much a decent thrash metal album. No more and no less, just 8 fast raw power tracks that will immediately “speak” to any fan of the genre. You have the hard angry shouting vocals, the fast buzzing guitar riffs, the blasting bass and the kind of drumming that leaves you with a neck injury. What this record lacks is originality. I mean if someone told me that "Planet Earth Ground Zero” was the new Kreator album featuring a different guy on vocals, I would have believed it. In other words, this album does not add anything new to the already overloaded thrash metal scene.
Nevertheless though, no one can argue that "Planet Earth Ground Zero” is a tight album that grabs your attention and you have a pretty good time listening to it. Especially for a debut release, it’s really impressive. Hopefully, Devariem will manage to find their distinct voice in the near future.
